Frequently Asked Question (FAQ #1)

How can I tell which COM port number is assigned to my Connective Peripherals USB-Serial Converter?

Answer:

Once your converter is installed, you will see it under both the ‘Universal Serial Bus Controllers’ and the ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’ sections of device manager. In the Ports section, you will see USB Serial Port (COM4) for example. The number in brackets is the COM port number assigned.
If using the port in a communications program, select this port number to open the port of your USB-Serial Converter. The PC will store the COM port number assigned against the serial number of the unit and so each time you connect it to the same PC it will be given the same COM port number.
